Hello there!
If you are filling out this form, it means you are interested in being part of the ROA youth leadership team!!
Every theatrical production has a creative team--directors, lighting designers, costumers, stage managers! ROA is a theater group for youth run by youth, and to keep it going, we need youth leaders! Youth who are interested in building more than a 'group' but a family! To put on a production, you need many different people of different skill sets, and that is where you come in!
By filling out this form, it means you are interested in being a long term member of ROA and will be considered part of the student 'staff'--now this isn't a paid position and it is not a 9-5 job (thank goodness!). The ROA Youth Leadership Team is a group of youth who are the foundation of our group! From being a stage manager to being a head costumer, youth will have the opportunity to really grow their leadership and citizenship skills! Its purpose is to give ROA strong leaders where newer students can really learn and grow from their peers as well as creating deep roots for ROA and setting us up for long term success!
How it works:
As part of the Youth Leadership Team, you will be part of a long term team. You will be part of making executive decisions (dates, events, scripts, etc.), have first chance at being on show production teams, and lead groups of other youth during productions (depending on your position)! It is a very flexible, yet engaging and exciting way to be a part of something big!
Youth will learn along side each other how to work together on a team, develop leadership skills, and find build a close knit community!
Questions-
Will I be expected to be a part of everything ROA does:
No! As a student leader you will be offered the opportunity to put in feedback on up coming shows and be on the creative team, but if you are not available for some reason or another to participate in a particular event, no sweat! Life happens!!
How old do I need to be to be on the student leadership team:
you must be 13 years old! We are looking for students who are dedicated and responsible!
So since I made it on the team... Am I the big know it all boss of my area?:
Nope! Yes, you may take a leadership position, but everyone has room to grow and learn from others. You can still ask questions, take advice, let other people grow too as you facilitate!
What is the commitment like? This seems kind of time consuming:
Not at all! Everyone has a life and theater is not usually the first priority on everyone's to-do list! We will have either a band group or a group text/email (depending on what works for most) to keep us in touch through the year. There will not be any in person meetings (unless its agreed something we need to get organized) and if it gets to be too much commitment for you, you can always step back or down. Your work on our team should never get in the way of school or family responsibilities. It should be filling and something you look forward to! All that to say, we are super flexible!
It takes a team to pull together a show, It takes a team to pull together a group, and it takes a team to pull together a community!
